Anchor Text

Anchor text refers to the text that composes a link to another web pages or resources. It gives the user relevant descriptive or contextual information about the content of the link's destination. The anchor text may or may not be related to the actual text of the URL of the link. This helps the search engines for linking the sites to the other pages and to optimize the web pages.

The words contained in the Anchor text can determine the ranking that the page will receive by search engines. Search engines often look at anchor text to determine what the link is about and thus assume the subject of the site to which the link points. It is widely believed that placing keywords in anchor text helps search engine ranking. The search engines not only count keywords used in websites but also review the keyword in links. Therefore, it becomes imperative to use competitive and relevant keywords when building links.

The keyword used in Anchor text plays a major role by optimizing site with different keywords which target more audience. However using the right keyword is more important and searching the keyword for Anchor text is a tough process. Efforts should be taken in researching keywords and the keyword analysis tool can be used to make the research complete. Anchor text can be used as the most relevant and less competitive keyword instead of using the same and highly competitive.

Anchor text is used highly in search engine optimization because the linked keyword is usually relevant to the landing page and it also compels people to click the link and visit the site. Thus using Anchor text becomes more important in building a link for a website to provide quality link and to attract relevant traffic in website.
